Victor Labarthe d'Arnoux is a freelance set designer working across opera and immersive digital experience. Based in Paris, his practice is built on the conviction that aesthetic and meaning are inseparable, a sensibility rooted in his background in philosophy before training in stage and costume design in Brussels and Lyon.

His work is marked by an unusual range: from operatic staging to large-scale immersive installations for electronic music festivals, from material and texture research for photography productions to art direction in virtual reality. The transversality between his practices feeds and sharpens his visual language in ways that a single discipline never could.

He has worked alongside internationally renowned designers including Michael Levine, Antony Macdonald, Annemarie Woods and Katrin Lea Tag, and has been associated with houses such as the Zurich Opera House, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Opéra de Lyon, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Theater an der Wien, the Oslo Opera and the Nationale Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam. His previous engagements as a set designer include the Oper Graz and the Semperoper Dresden.

He was a finalist in the European Directing Prize at the Komische Oper Berlin and took second place in the Dutch Design Award at the Nationale Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam, both in 2017.
